Every couple has a unique origin story, but ours really feels like it was written by fate—complete with a whirlwind timeline, military deployments, and cross-country moves. If you've ever wondered how we went from a simple dating app match to building our forever together, here is the story of us.
The Right Swipe in the Lone Star State
Back when I was still living in my home state of Texas, modern romance entered our lives via a simple right swipe on Tinder. Caleb had just been stationed there with the Army, and as luck would have it, our paths crossed digitally.
We hit it off immediately. What started as casual messaging quickly turned into hours of talking, realizing we shared the same sense of humor, values, and vision for the future. When you know, you know—and we didn't waste any time. Caleb proposed on February 14, 2019, and just eleven days later, on February 25, 2019, we officially tied the knot!
Surviving the Whirlwind First Year
If getting engaged and married in under two weeks wasn't exciting enough, our first year of marriage truly tested our strength. Almost immediately after walking down the aisle, we had to face a tough reality of military life: distance.
Caleb was assigned a rotation to Korea, which meant our newlywed phase was spent across the globe from one another. That first year was an absolute blur of time zones, video calls, counting down the days, and longing to just be in the same room again. It wasn't easy, but getting through that deployment together built an unbreakable foundation for our marriage.
Planting Roots in North Carolina
Once Caleb successfully finished serving his contract with the Army, we were finally ready to turn the page to our next chapter. We packed up our lives in Texas and moved to Caleb's hometown of Oxford, North Carolina.
Transitioning out of military life and settling into a brand new state brought a whole new set of adventures. Today, we are happily building our future right here in NC—surrounded by community, pursuing our passions, and cherishing every quiet, ordinary moment we once dreamed of during our time apart.
From a dating app ping in Texas to quiet evenings in Oxford, every twist and turn was worth it. Here's to the journey, the miles covered, and the life we're still writing together.
